Homework p1 25.11.19

Our Sounds: An unusual week as we have 3 new sounds this week. Monday-‘ee’ Tuesday- ‘or’ Wednesday -‘z’

Reading books.

I know some groups are getting some books that they have already read. The reason for this is they got these books at the start of the year and are reading much more fluently now so it is good for the children to see the progress they have made and be able to engage with the story now they can decode it. Some children will be changing moving on to stage 3 in the next few weeks.

Chips: New Trainers

Biffs: The Dream

Kippers: The Hedgehog

Floppys: The Hedgehog

Nativity songs to practise at home.

(We sing them all except Song 2 and 9)

Remember this week is our Christmas Fair. Any last minute donations are welcomed and I hope to see you there on Friday!

p1 homework 18/11/19

Revising all old tricky words.

Reading books.

Chips: The Dream

Biffs: The Babysitter

Kippers: The Apple

Floppys: The Apple

There has been a little bit of confusion over the list of  stage 2 reading words that were sent home with some children. These were the words to be coloured in once your child can recognise it consistently in different contexts 3 times (Everyone, said, got etc). Children can only move on to these once they are reading stage 2 and they can only move on to this stage when they are able to recognise the words: Kipper, Biff, Floppy, Mum, and, a , Chip, the and Dad.

If your child is reading stage 1 books please continue to revise the words above. We are hoping that some children will be moving stages by Christmas.

Primary 1 and 2 are still looking for ‘nearly new’ toys which we can sell on at the Christmas Fair. All donations are appreciated.

P1 and 2 have also began to create our props for the nativity. We are looking for large bits of cardboard or cardboard boxes.

We are progressing really well with nativity. Miss Waller and I are so impressed with how the children are picking up songs, directions and lines. We truly appreciate your continual support with this at home.

Hope you all have a lovely week,

Miss Ramsay

School catchment review

Dear parents and carers,

Two S1 pupils from Beeslack and Penicuik High, Hannah and Emily, visited Newbattle Community High School recently to speak to S6 pupils, Craig and Erin, about the world-class learning environment and its Digital Centre of Excellence. It has been captured  on film to give you more information about plans for education in the Penicuik and surrounding areas. Proposals include a replacement for Beeslack built along the A701 corridor with a Centre of Excellence in STEM subjects and a potential refurbishment of Penicuik High.

•         Watch the video<https://youtu.be/Bevx8AIonxI>

Please remember to come to one of two drop-in sessions about the plans. These are on:

•         Tuesday 12 November:  1pm – 7pm at Penicuik Library in the Penicuik Centre.

People Who Help Us Topic – p1 need your help

Primary One have started their second topic of the year. We are going to be learning about all of the people in our community who help keep us healthy and safe. We would absolutely love if any parents or family members who work in any of these roles could come in and talk to us about your job and the role you play in our lives.

We already have a visit from the local community police officers booked in for the 31st of October. If you or any of your family work as part of the emergency services, part of a dental practice or veterinary practice or any other role relevant to our topic we would love you to join us at a time suitable for you.

If you are interested could you send me an email at k.ramsay@mgfl.net and we can arrange a time to pop in.

Thanks in advance,

Miss Ramsay
