## Primary 2 Homework 15.3.22

Hello,

The reading homework and spelling words went home today.

Our sound of the week is ‘y’ as in ‘sky’ and the spelling words are:

win     sit     stop     fry     dry

crying     sky     more     before     myself

Numeracy: The class have entered the Midlothian sum-dog challenge, every correct answer counts! See how many correct answers you can get on sum-dog to add to our class tally.

Many Thanks,

Mrs Lynch

Hello,

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend,

Many thanks,

Mrs Lynch

## Primary 2 Homework 8.3.22

Hello,

Reading homework has gone home in reading bags today, alongside this weeks spelling list.

Our sound this week is ‘igh’. Please practise the following words at home:

lip     his     went

night     high     might     light

any     many     frightening

We have been looking at how we can work out how we can count groups of objects. For example: 6 pairs of gloves- how many gloves would that be? We can count in 2s to find the answer more quickly:

2+2+2+2+2+2=12 gloves    OR 6 groups of 2 could be written as

6 x 2=12 gloves (6 lots of 2 making 12). Try the hit the button game on topmarks to practise the 2 times table. (link below)

Many thanks,

## 🇺🇦 DRESS DOWN FOR UKRAINE 💛💙 11.3.22

Our school community have been desperate to do something to help Ukraine. 🇺🇦.

We have decided to have a dress down day on Friday and ask everyone to wear something blue and yellow if possible. We ask that everyone brings a cash donation too. We are donating money to a charity that matches your donations, so anything we raise will be doblubled. More info will be given when donations are in.

## Primary 2 Homework 1.3.22

Hello,

The learning trio appointment times were sent home yesterday so please check your child’s school bag. If the time is unsuitable please let the office or myself know as soon as possible, I can be contacted via email at l.lynch2@midlothian.education or feel free to speak to me at the end of the school day.

This week is world book day! Please can the children bring a book to read as whenever a bell goes during the school day we will stop and read. On Thursday the pupils may dress up as their favourite book character, we’ll be doing lots of fun book day activities!

Homework:

The reading and spelling homework has gone home in book bags. Our sound of the week is “ea” as in teapot.

I have included a numeracy activity as well in their homework packs to consolidate our learning: number order for rectangles and triangles; addition for circle group.

Many thanks,

Mrs Lynch

Hello,

Thank you to everyone who replied regarding the learning trios next week. Please keep an eye out on Monday for your appointment time coming home in your child’s schoolbag. These will run in the same way as they did in November, with one adult accompanying their child to the appointment, entering via the classroom door.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Many thanks,

Mrs Lynch

## Primary 2 Homework 22.2.22

Hello,

I hope everyone had a lovely February break.

The homework for this week:

Numeracy: We have been practising skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Primary 2s have a go at counting in 2s, 5s or 10s to an adult at home. For an added challenge start at a number other than 0. For example: start at 12 and count up in 2s or start at 50 and count up in 10s

Literacy: The reading books and spelling words have gone home today in reading bags. Our sound of the week is “ay”

The learning trios will take place next week. Thank you to everyone who has returned their date preference. If you are still to do so please could you let me know as soon as possible which date you would prefer.
