clock     lick     so     my     broomstick

P6 Week Beginning 29.11.21

Hi all,

We have P.E. on Monday and Wednesday.

Miss Sun will take Mandarin on Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, we have another Dunedin consort workshop.

Homework will be handed out on Monday and should be handed in on Friday. This week, there will be spelling and reading. This week, there will be no extra task. Please ensure your child completes their reading homework daily.

This week we will be using Chromebooks. It would be great for your child to bring in their laminated Google Workspace password, so they are able to log in with ease this week. However, we have glued our passwords into our reading records too, just in case we forget it.

Dates for the diary:

  • Monday 6th December: Christmas post box returns.  Please ensure your child writes the child’s name and class on the envelope before posting.
  • Tuesday 7th December: P6 will be watching the Dunedin consort in school.
  • Tuesday 14th December: Drumming workshop with Infectious Grooves
  • Tuesday 14th December: Christmas lunch (please return your child’s letter by Monday 6th Dec, if your child would like a lunch and pay through parentpay)
  • Wednesday 15th December: P6 carol singing at the Horn , 2pm – 2:30pm. Families are invited to come and watch.
  • Thursday 16th December: P6 Christmas party and jumper day. Your child can come dressed in their Christmas jumpers for their party in the afternoon!
  • Friday 17th December 2021 – Dunedin Consort (Handel’s Messiah, Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh – details to be confirmed)
  • Tuesday 21st December: Online PANTO
  • Wednesday 22nd December: Last day of term, finish at 3:15pm

Thank you all for your support.

P4 Homework and Update – Nov/Dec 2021

✨Homework & Update – P4! ✨

We have had a very busy first term with some ups and downs. Fingers crossed we all stay healthy on the lead up to Christmas and over the holidays. We are doing everything in our power to bring some festive cheer this month!

We still have to adhere to safety measures to ensure all children and staff in school are as safe as possible so please follow the FACTS guidance at all times. As in previous months,  it is still extremely important that our classrooms are kept well ventilated so the windows will be open throughout the day. We now also have carbon dioxide monitors in the classroom which alert us to higher levels and prompt us to open the door. Therefore please ensure that your child wears a warm jumper/fleece as wearing layers is the best way to keep warm. Also it is extremely important that with the change in weather, all children come to school with a warm jacket/coat.

Homework

  • 🔡Spelling: homework tasks consist of pupils writing new spelling words in their homework jotter on Wednesday each week. At home they should use:

LOOK   THINK/SAY   COVER   WRITE   CHECK

to write out their new spelling words three times in neat columns. They should also complete an activity card which will earn pupils credit card points. Completed spelling homework should be returned the following Monday to be marked and the next spelling pattern will be given for homework on Wednesday each week. All activities are discussed in class so your child should be able to complete these tasks independently or with minimal adult support.

  • 🔢Numeracy & Maths: each week an activity sheet will be given to practise work which has been taught in class. Pupils can write straight onto this sheet so no need to copy into their jotters and this can be returned in their folder on Monday of the following week.
  • 📚Reading: all pupils have been allocated a reading book which goes home once or twice per week to be read with an adult. It is extremely important that this activity is done at home as only through regular reading practice, will children improve this valuable life skill! Please ensure your child’s reading book is returned to school on the date written on the bookmark. It would also be helpful if you could initial this when you have heard your child read.
  • 👟PE/Health & Wellbeing: this will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities where possible and to that end, can children please come dressed for outdoor PE on Tuesday and Thursday each week.  An outdoor kit will consist of trainers, shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings, t-shirt, fleece and outdoor showerproof jacket. We still have no changing areas at present so children will wear their kit for the day.

p3 Homework – w/b – 29.11.21

Hi everyone,

Homework

Spelling

Spelling words have been glued into the children’s jotters. Please remember to practise the words AND write the sentences unless this has been discussed with me previously.

Lots of children were missing their jotters today.  As a result they could not glue in their homework and it instead is loose in their bag. I am keen not to hand out new jotters before the end of term as we will all get a fresh one in January. Please can you remind you remind your child to look for their jotter at home.

Numeracy/Maths

I have stuck a numeracy/maths grid the the back of your child’s homework jotter. The expectation is that only one brick (activity)  be completed per week. Can you colour the brick after your child has completed the activity AND is confident in doing so independently.

A Sumdog challenge on addition and subtraction has also been set for each pupil at their level and will be available until next Friday.

P7 Info W/B 29.11.21

Hi all,

I hope everyone is safe and well after the terrible weather over the weekend! Winter is truly here.

🎽 PE  – Monday and Wednesday – please come to school dressed for PE outdoors. Remember to bring a water bottle for hydration.

🚴‍♀️ Bikeability – Group 2 have their next session on Monday 29th November.

🥪Lunches / Parent Pay –  P7 can now select a pre-paid lunch from the school lunch hall. The menu should be posted on the school website very soon. Children are still welcome to bring in a packed lunch from home to be eaten in the classroom.

📚Reading – We have started to read a class novel called ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ .  WW2  is our new topic. Can every child still have a personal reading text in school for such times when children may read quietly.

Bud Bus – The children gave very positive feedback about their visit to the Bud Bus from Poppy Scotland  last week. I have put some photos of this and the P7 Remembrance Assembly in a slideshow, in Google Classroom, visible from Monday at 08:50

School Camp – The most welcome and very wonderful news that School Camp will go ahead next spring was met with loud cheers from the children! Please note that a deposit is required within the next few weeks. Everyone should have received a letter home about it.  Thank you.

🏠Homework :

📝Spelling –  Please hand in completed work on Friday. Please ensure all writing is neat.

🧮 Maths/Numeracy –More work on decimals and percentages will be sent home this week.

That’s all for now,

Thank you,

Miss Brunt

Primary 2 Homework

Hello,

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. We have two sounds that we are practising this week: ‘ss’ and ‘zz’

The spelling words are:

hop     fit     grin     buzz     cross

less     miss     go     no     crossroad

Challenge: Try to write a sentence with as many ‘ss’ and ‘zz’ words you can think of. Remember finger spaces, full stop and capital letter.

Many thanks,

Mrs Lynch
