Homework this week –

Spelling – List 10 ‘ ll’ – can children please complete the written part of their homework in their green jotter; last week, only about half the class did so. If your child practises their spelling elsewhere, on other paper for example, just write me a wee note in their spelling jotter to let me know. Thanks.

Reading – as usual, check green reading bags. We will start to read ‘Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson as a class novel.

Maths – Well done to those who completed our first Sumdog challenge. This week, the Sumdog challenge is called ‘Days, Months and Hands of the Clock’ – 75 coins to collect.

Topic – We say farewell to the topic on Dinosaurs and think about Day/Night and safety in the dark ( links in perfectly with the Owl novel).

Nativity – The P1/2 Nativity performance is scheduled for Monday 12th December ( time TBC). Mrs Cumming and I have chosen the script we want to use this year (Christmas with the Aliens)  and already the infants have been learning some songs. P7 have a visit from the mobile Military Museum

Today P7 had an visit from Ian and his mobile Military Museum. This was an excellent hands on activity for learners to explore primary and secondary evidence and discuss, problem solved and ask questions on their Social Subjects topic of WW2.

I am sure they will remember this learning for a long time!

Primary 7 31.10.16-11.11.16

This week the homework will be slightly up in the air due to various events in school. the children have a Conscription worksheet to complete and are being asked to learn their 8 tines table and work on the Sumdog challenge.

For 9.11.16 – personal research for Remembrance. Pupils should visit the local war memorial and research a local soldier and produce a short piece of information on them using the Internet. Work will be discussed in class this week. I expect pupils to gather as much information as possible inc any relevant photos/documents.
