P7 – Home Learning

Dear P7 and Parents,

A quick note on Home Learning.
Home Learning is from 11th – 18th January. I will provide a weekly plan with all activities on Google Classroom.
It will follow a similar routine as the last time with some changes based on the previous experience. I will try to keep it simple for you to follow along at home.

Remember that guidance and decisions are subject to change so this information is accurate as of 22nd December.

If you have any issues accessing Google Classroom or you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
You can contact me by email.
c.nelson@mgfl.net

I want to say that I have really enjoyed teaching P7 this term. Coming into school everyday with each one of you full of energy with your usual good humour and positivity has made me smile throughout the term. You are all awesome!
I know it has been a challenging year at times with the rules and regulations, preventing us from doing everything a P7 class normally gets to do, but we keep moving forward and do our best. Remember to think back on our work this term on growth mindset. That’s all we can do!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

Mr. Nelson

☃️ P5 Info – 14.12.20

Hello,

There will be no homework until after the Christmas holidays.

Please find below the information for this week.

Tuesday

We will be filming our Xmas song, so children can come dressed in Christmas jumpers/t-shirts and they can wear Christmas headgear/Santa hats too.

We will also be finishing the Panto ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ which we started this afternoon (Monday).

Wednesday

The class will have P.E with Mrs Duncan, please ensure your child comes dressed appropriately for P.E outside.

Thursday

P5 will be having their Christmas fun afternoon with a Christmas movie, fun outside and some snacks. Thank you to those who have brought in £2 towards costs/charitable donation.

Friday

There will be no ZOOM Assembly, instead we will have an end of term one on Tuesday 22nd December.

** This week we will be making a few different Christmas crafts that children will be able to bring home once completed. We are looking at making sock snowmen and for this children will need two socks! If possible could your child please bring in two socks (preferably one white and one patterned/colour.) Adult socks work best for this so if you have any old/odd socks lying around (without holes!) then we would love to put them to use. *

Tuesday 22nd December 2020 – Tuesday 5th January 2021: Christmas Holiday

P3 Homework week beginning 14/12/20

Hello hello P3,

Things to Note this week:

  • Tuesday is the Christmas Lunch day. Please ensure your child hands their choices slip in by Monday as the kitchen must know numbers to be able to prepare. Thank you to all who returned them this week.
  • The p3 Christmas celebration afternoon is this Wednesday. We are asking that children do not wear or bring party clothes as children will not be able to bring a change of  clothing and Wednesday is our PE day. Instead we are suggesting children wear their Christmas jumper over their PE clothes. We are asking for a £2 per child donation to cover the cost of snacks, donation to mission Christmas and a donation to the Brunton Theatre who provided us access to their fab panto, Rapunzel.
  • As it is the final full week of term there will be no reading homework this week. Instead I encourage you to read for pleasure. Try to read a new story each day if you can.
  • A week on Tuesday ( the 22nd) is a Head Teacher Award Assembly so keep your eye out for that important little surprise in the post!

Since this year has forced us all to become Google Classroom experts we are going to try to use it a bit more in p3, especially for homework.

All the children who handed in their homework on Friday now have their Glow passwords to access Google Classroom glued into their blue homework jotter on the inside cover. I encourage you to please note this down elsewhere too in case the blue jotter goes a miss or gets damaged.

Everyone has their spelling homework as per usual, however it has been posted on GC  instead of being stuck into jotters as well as a numeracy task. This just means we are being a little more eco friendly and homework instructions are always accessible even if the blue jotter goes missing or if I accidentally miss a jotter in my marking pile!

Can blue jotters please be handed in on Friday of this week.

P4 Homework & Update – December 2020

Dear All,

It is hard to believe but we are now in December and as the weather is now well and truly wintry, it is really important that pupils come to school with a warm and waterproof jacket and appropriate footwear. When we are working indoors,  it is extremely important our classrooms are kept well ventilated so the windows will be open throughout the day. Please ensure that your child also brings in a warm jumper/fleece as it can get chilly therefore wearing layers is the best way to keep warm.

Although we still have quite a number of restriction, we will be doing our utmost to make sure pupils enjoy the run up to the festive season. Unfortunately we are still unable to use the indoor hall spaces so will be as creative with the outdoor and classroom space as possible whilst ensuring everyone’s safety.

Homework

  • Spelling: will continue until 15th December with pupils writing their new spelling words in their homework jotter on Wednesday each week. At home they should use:

LOOK   THINK/SAY   COVER   WRITE   CHECK

to write out their new spelling words three times in neat columns. They should also complete an activity card which will earn pupils 2 credit card points. An optional second activity may be completed for extra practice (and 1 credit card point) but is not mandatory. Completed spelling homework should be returned the following Tuesday to be marked and the next spelling pattern will be given for homework on Wednesday each week.

  • Numeracy & Maths: please use the enclosed activity sheet to practise work which has been taught in class. Pupils can write straight onto this sheet so no need to copy into their jotters and this can be returned in their folder on Tuesday of the following week.
  • Reading: all pupils have been allocated a reading book which will go home twice per week to be read with an adult. It is extremely important that this activity is done at home as only through regular reading practice, will children improve this valuable life skill! Please ensure your child’s reading book is returned to school on the date written on the bookmark. It would also be helpful if you could initial this when you have heard your child read.
  • PE/Health & Wellbeing: this will be an outdoor activity where possible and to that end, can children please come dressed for outdoor PE on the allocated day each week (see dates below).  An outdoor kit will consist of trainers, jogging bottoms/leggings, t-shirt, fleece and outdoor showerproof jacket. We have no changing areas at present so children will wear their kit for the day.
Date P.E. / Health & Wellbeing Activity Day
    01.12.20 Tuesday
    10.12.20 Thursday
    15.11.20 Tuesday
    23.12.20 to 05.01.21 Christmas Break
    07.01.21 Thursday
    12.01.21 Tuesday
    21.01.21 Thursday
