Farewell P7 :( A note from Mrs H x

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Awards assembly yesterday.  The children did really well and I am so proud of each and every one.

I cannot believe that the year is almost at an end, it has already been such an emotional week.  I want to thank you all for your support, gifts and kind words and I wish you all health and happiness in the future.  Please say Hi when you see me around Loanhead.  Here are some photos and a video of our recent topic to share with you.

P3 W/B 26/06/17

I cannot believe it is the last week of term already!I have had a fantastic year with my super-duper P3s. I would like to thank you all for your support over the year and I am extremely sad to be leaving my lovely class and a wonderful school. I hope everyone has a great summer break.

Homework

There will be no homework issued.

Books

Please can you make sure that all school and Loanhead library books are returned to class. I need to return the Loanhead Library books before the holidays.

Plastic bags

I would be grateful if you could please send your child in with a sturdy plastic bag on Thursday for taking work home.

*Remember school finishes at 12 noon on Friday*

Thank you

Miss Prior 🙂

P1 Week beginning 26/06/17

I can’t believe we are now at the end of the year – it has flown by!

I am not sending any homework home this week at all.

Thank you to all the family and friends that have supported their child’s reading this year. It is so important to get that help at home and it makes a big difference to the development of their reading.

Tuesday 27th: We will be working with P1 buddies on a fun event in the morning.

Inter-house dance-off in the afternoon – some of the P1 children have been involved in this competition and I have heard the standard of dancing is very high!

Wednesday 28th: Leaver’s assembly

Thursday 29th: P1/2 Beach Party: We will be having a fun event using hall for some games and then having a picnic. Children can wear or bring shorts and t-shirts (beachy clothes – not bikinis and swim suits) they can change at lunch time if they want to. They could wear PE kit if they want too. If anyone has a beach towel or picnic rug we can borrow that would be helpful.

Friday 30th: Certificate assembly and final leaver’s assembly.

Friday 29th: Last day – finish at 12:00 noon.

Thank you for all your support with your child’s learning this year. I have had a wonderful year with P1 and have enjoyed every minute – they are a lovely class! I wish you all a peaceful and relaxing summer.

P2 News and Information W/B 26.6.17

It’s the final week in P2! The time seems to have disappeared so fast this year! So, this means that we’ll take time this week to ‘wrap’ things up, return work home etc.

Events this week:

Beach Party – on Thursday we’re going to use the hall for  ‘beach party’ games. Children can wear ‘beach wear’ clothes if they like ( basically shorts and T-shirts- not swimming costumes!) Children could just wear their PE kit also- this is just a fun, informal event and there’s no need to bring/buy anything special for it. We’ll follow the games with some juice and fruit kebabs and have a ‘picnic’. If anyone has a beach towel or small beach blanket for us to sit on, can you lend us this please. Many thanks.

Homework: Drum roll….there is no homework this week! However, please finish reading any books from last week- I’ll collect these all back in on Wednesday. A big thanks to parents and extended family members who helped support children with their homework this year – it really does make a difference. Please encourage your child to read over the holidays.

Plastic bag – We’ll start to empty trays and take work down from walls and will send most of this home so can all children bring a strong carrier bag on Monday. Some jotters, if they have lots of blank pages left, I will pass onto Mr Buchan to continue using. Thank you.

Library books – final call for library book returns. Please hand back in if not already done so.

End of term – School finishes on Friday at 12 noon.

Finally, I’d like to say a big thank you to all at home for your fantastic support this year. As I said, it’s been a very quick year but a very enjoyable one with a super P2 class. I will miss them lots next year. I  hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe summer.

Thank you,

Miss Brunt

P2 Homework W/B 19.6.17

Well, we’re getting close to the final countdown. What a quick academic year it has been! As such, this will be the last week of homework! Image result for celebrating

Reading– we’ll finish up on the books we have had and tie up loose ends so just check the books bags daily as normal. (Although some may still get a final new book this week)

Spelling – Thanks to all who completed their ‘common word’ list last week. There’s a new one coming home this week, on Tuesday.

Numeracy – there’s no new task. I’m going to take the time to look back on all the Sumdog challenges over the course of P2 and assign points to the top ten each week on the leaderboard and work out the top three players overall for awards. Please note that all children have had access to Sumdog in school time as well as at home so no-one has been left out.

Topic– we are doing a ‘whirlwind’ tour of The Sea as our final topic. We may finish next week on an ‘in school beach party’– details to follow.

Thanks to Rudy’s Granddad ‘Tam’ who came to speak to the class about his memories of being a miner in Loanhead as part of our Local Study topic.  This is such an important part of Loanhead’s history and legacy and it’s so important that the children realise the connections and risks these brave people took in order for us all to have coal. Thanks Tam!! The children loved hearing your memories and were very engrossed!

Library books – please start to return any library book.

Work home– can you send kids in with a sturdy plastic bag this week so we can start to send P2 work home. Thanks.

Thank you,

Miss Brunt

P1 Week Beginning 19/06/2017

Reading homework will be the only homework I am sending home this week. Please look in their book bags for this as usual.

On Wednesday 21st Primary 1 will be doing the school uniform fashions show for the new P1 parents. After discussion with the children I will be sending a slip home on Monday asking them to wear certain items to school on Wednesday. If you would prefer not to send them in these clothes please send them for them to change into.

On Friday we will behaving a special visitor to the class in connection with our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic.

Many thanks,

Lisa Cumming

Primary 7 Information

So much to fit in…so little time!

The letter from Mrs Wyllie has been sent home – this details all the information about the day and night for P7 in the last week of term – thanks to all the parents who took time to be part of the organisation.  If the letter has been misplaced then here it is P7 LETTER

There is no homework other than reading and any maths goals pupils have set themselves after their transition days.

Invites for our P7 leavers assembly will be coming out this week.  It is on the 28th of June in the afternoon and is very much a red carpet event so please dust off your diamonds and top hat 😉

We are still looking for anyone who may be able to take photographs of the P7 during their assembly and after and would be able to edit and share the link that week (our very own Paparazzi) .  We are also hunting for a piper to pipe as the P7s leave from about 11.50-12.20 on the last day of term – 30th of June,

Please email me k.hinton@mgfl.net if you can help
