Parent Helpers Needed for Thursday 19th December!

Hello P3 parents,

I’ve arranged a class trip to the Loanhead Library next Thursday, where the library staff will read a story to the class and they’ll get a chance to browse the book selection. We need two parent helpers for the trip due to class numbers, so this is my plea for any volunteers! We will leave school at 10:15am and return for 11:15am. If you are interested, could you please let me know at s.mcgaff@mgfl.net as soon as possible? It will be the first two to respond to me that we’ll take along.

Thanks a lot,

Mr McGaff

Primary 3’s Winter Revision Homework

Hello everyone,

For P3’s homework this week, I have decided against standard reading and spelling homework. Instead, I have created a revision sheet that covers a few things we have done in 2019. This homework is entirely optional, but it should be a nice way to refresh your child’s memory before we break up for the winter break. Feel free to answer questions on the back of the sheet or on a separate piece of paper, and let me know if you have enjoyed the format and I can prepare something similar for next week! 🙂

Thanks a lot,

Mr McGaff

Thank you to those who have prepared a pupil talk and are waiting to present it. From the talks I have listened to so far, I am really impressed and I can see the effort the children have made to highlight their personal interests and hobbies.

Thank you for your support,

Mr. Nelson

Primary 5 news and Information

I cannot believe how close the end of term is looming.  We have lots on this week (see below)

This will also be the last week of homework.  There will be the usual spelling words to be written 3 times and then written in sentences or a story.  There is nightly reading and a Maths revision sheet too.  The class are doing well at learning their times tables but it is CRUCIAL that work continues on this at home too. Their SUMDOG is used regularly in school and does update to get harder as they get more correct.

P2 Homework w.b. 9.12.19

Just a reminder that the P1/2 Nativity is on Monday 9th December at 2pm in the large hall. Please remember there is a limit of 2 guests per child as the hall space is limited. The children put on an AMAZING performance on Friday and I have no doubt that they will repeat this tomorrow. They have made me so proud with their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm.

P1/2 Christmas party is  next week (Tuesday 17th December) in the afternoon. The cost of the party is £2 and this can be handed into me or the school office by the end of the week, please.

This Tuesday (10th December) is Christmas jumper day and donations would be greatly appreciated to go towards our sponsorship of schooling for two children in Africa. It is also Christmas lunches!

We have our Christmas show on Wednesday 11th December 10:00- 11:00 from the company ‘Funbox’.

On Friday, P2/3 are going to the local residential home to do some carol singing. Your child may bring in a Christmas jumper and/or Christmas accessories to wear for this.

To keep things as ‘routine’ as possible, I am still going to be doing reading homework this week! Please check your child’s green reading record for the pages to be read. There will be no spelling homework as we are going to be revising the sounds we have already learned.

I am looking forward to seeing you on Monday! Hope you have had a wonderful weekend,

Miss Lauren Waller (L.Waller@mgfl.net)
