P6 – Homework – Week Beginning 7.10.19

Hello,

Homework this week consists of reading, spellings and a numeracy worksheet and this is due on Friday 11th October.

  • Reading has been set for all reading groups. The book  title and the page numbers can be found in the pupils’ reading diaries.
  • Spellings for this week have been copied into pupils’ homework jotters.
  • Numeracy worksheets have been allocated to each pupil, with a focus on multiplication by 1 digit and 2 digit numbers.
  • Times Tables. I continue to encourage practicing times tables each evening, as this will really help with class work on multiplication and division.

Thanks for your support,

Mr. Nelson

This week’s homework (due Friday 11th October)

Good afternoon!

This week’s homework is our last before the October break. Similar to usual, Spelling/Read, Write, Inc. is due Friday, and Reading books are to be finished and returned on Friday.

If you wish to order the cards we designed in school today, they have to be returned by Friday at the latest so that we can send them away. If I don’t see you before Friday, have a wonderful and well deserved October break!

Best wishes,

Mr McGaff

P2 Homework w.b. 7.10.19

Hi all,

Just a reminder that P1/2 are collecting non-perishable food and toiletry items for the Harvest assembly. If you have any donations for this then please bring these in by Friday morning. Remember we are performing the assembly at 11am on Friday morning and there is a limit of two guests per child in the hall.

Learning Trio appointments are on Thursday after school, please remember that children must be at the meeting too.

The ‘Teach your Monster to Read’ app is free until Tuesday on the app store. This is a fantastic app to help your child with reading and phonics! It usually costs £4.99 to download, so it’s worthwhile getting on your devices while it’s free!

Homework for the week:

Reading: Pages to be read have been written in green reading records.

Spelling: We are revising the sounds we have learned so far this term so there will be no spelling list in their jotters. Instead, children should write a few words with the following sounds in them – ch, sh, th, ng, qu, ar.

School finishes at the normal time of 12:25 on Friday for the October holiday and pupils resume on Wednesday 23rd October.

Thanks,

Miss Lauren Waller

P7 Info W/B Monday 7th October 2019

Hi all,

Info for this week:

MondayMusic/Choir

  • Golf (for a group )

Tuesday PE

WednesdayPE

  • Lunchtime Drawing Club

Thursday –     Rugby

  • Parent/Pupil/Teacher Learning trios – child must attend.

Friday – School finishes at 12:25 pm for the October break. Pupils resume Wednesday 23rd October.

Independent Study Task – This week, the maths focus is on volume of liquids. There will be a double sided sheet sent home on Monday to be returned by this Friday please (11th).

Numeracy – We are forming ‘Times Teams’ in class – a buddy system to really focus on learning our times tables efficiently. This really is a priority as poor recall of times tables impacts on so many other areas of numeracy.

World War 2 Topic – On Friday 8th November, P7 will host the Remembrance Assembly. We will start rehearsals for it this week as we have the holiday and school camp coming up between now and then! If anyone has a family member who remembers  WW2 as a child and would like to share their stories with us, that would be incredible.  It would be fabulous to have 4-5 pupils read out family memories at the service, especially with it being 80 years since the start of the war.

Harvest donations – P1 and P2 are still looking for  larder items for their charity collection. Please send these in by Thursday if you can , thank you.

Card designs – The annual card design activity is upon us. Children will design a card at school and bring it home for you to view and order a set of cards if you wish. This is a great fundraiser for our school.

School Camp – I have no new information at this moment, regarding dorms etc but will let folks know as soon as I do. There are just over 3 weeks until we go to school camp so remember to prepare what is required from the camp kit list.

Thanks for your support,

Miss S Brunt

P6 – Times Tables Practice

Hello,

As part of our progress in Numeracy this year, I thought it was important to remind parents that any extra practice on times tables carried out at home can make a massive difference when it comes to helping pupils with multiplication and division calculations.

I encourage and recommend that pupils are practicing times tables at home for 10 minutes in the evening time.  For that reason I have provided website suggestions below to help with this. Pupils are already familiar with these websites, so they know how to access the games.

I appreciate your support!

  • Sumdog – Pupils should know their log in. If not then ask Mr. Nelson.
  • Top Marks website – This has a range of mini games that offer an alternative to sumdog. https://www.topmarks.co.uk

Thanks,

Mr. Nelson

PRIMARY 5 HOMEWORK 30/9/19

Primary 5 all have spelling words due in for Friday.  These should be written 3 times and then included in sentences or a silly story.

As always, pupils have reading every night.

Maths – Pupils will have a maths sheet on dividing which is due for Monday 7th of October.  They must still work on their times tables and mental addition and subtraction.  Your help with this is much appreciated.

Many children are still coming to school with no PE kit or indoor shoes.  Please can these be brought in daily and can water bottles contain ONLY WATER.

Please can you check your child’s hair for Head Lice as we have had reports of some cases throughout the school.

Many thanks

This week’s homework (due Friday 4th October)

Hi everyone,

Just a wee announcement to say that this week’s homework is business as usual. Reading homework will be half the book for Wednesday, and the rest of the book for Friday. Spelling/Read-Write-Inc. homework is also due on Friday, and in class we have started the 4 times table if your child wants extra practice at home!

Keep up the hard work 🙂

Mr McGaff
