Welcome P6!

Welcome back P6!

I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and is feeling refreshed and prepared for the new term. The classroom is set up, ready for everyone to come into.

The first week back after the summer break always brings fresh challenges – getting used to a new classroom, a new teacher, new routines, new everything! Thus, we’ll gently ease ourselves into the P6 routine this week and so, there will be no homework set until next week.

Now for a few ‘housekeeping’ requests – Can pupils please try and bring;

–          A pencil case with writing pencils, coloured pens/pencils, rubber, sharpener and if possible, a glue stick and a ruler.

–          A  book, comic or magazine for personal reading ( no worries if not, we do have a library)

–          A full PE kit for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

–          A healthy snack and a filled water bottle

–          A packed lunch or school dinner paid for through ParentPay

If children must bring a phone, it should be handed in to me first thing to be locked away for safe keeping before being handed back at the end of the day. Children really shouldn’t be bringing any  other valuable items with them to school.

Please check this webpage weekly for updates – I do try and publish each forthcoming week on a Sunday evening. I will send home a paper copy of this welcome page with my email address on it if you have any queries.

Finally, I’d like to welcome Miss Dickson, a  teaching student, to P6. Miss Dickson will be working with us until February 2019!

Thank you,

Miss Sara Brunt

An end of term thank you from Mrs Hinton

I want to say a huge thank you to all my P7s and their parents for my amazingly thoughtful gifts, cards and kind words. It has been a whirlwind few weeks of madness but they got there and have done so well. They all hold a special place in my heart and I wish you happy, safe and healthy holidays. Remember to say “hello” when you see me in the street and I look forward to hearing about your high school adventures.

Remember to take risks in your learning, be kind, be a friend, look out for each other and always have good manners. Your deeds are your monuments.

Much love,

Mrs H x

P5 Final Week

Here we are on the final week of term! We have reached this date with a mix of emotions and although sad to only have a few days left together, we are also all very excited for the summer holidays and recharging those batteries for another busy year ahead.

To celebrate, P5 have decided upon a Shorts ‘n’ Shades party on the afternoon of Wednesday 27th June with Mrs Watts and a picnic with Mrs Roy on Thursday 28th June. For our Shorts ‘n’ Shades party we have decided to come to school as normal in our school uniform and if we fancy we will change into shorts and our sunglasses for the afternoon. I will provide some refreshments and some pupils have agreed to bring in some treats to share with the class. Please only do so if you have the time and are able to do so.

Formal teaching will still take place during the morning sessions to lunchtime and then pupils will attend various Assemblies throughout the week.

If you could ensure all pupils come to school on Thursday 28th June with a strong carrier bag to take home their jotters, this would be very much appreciated.

Mrs Roy and myself wish you a very happy holiday and great start to P6 when you return. It has been a pleasure getting to know each and every one of the pupils in P5 this year and remember we are just across the atrium if you every need to chat!

Best wishes,

Your P5 Teachers (Mrs Roy & Mrs Watts)

P2 News W/B 25.6.18

Hi all,

It’s the final countdown! Our last week of P2. What a quick year it seems to have been; it feels no time at all since I was just getting to know my new class and suddenly,  it’s time to say goodbye!

Homework

There will be no new homework this week. Instead, I will start to collect in reading books and library books.

Bring a sturdy plastic bag! Children will get their work home this week and will need to empty trays, take home PE kits, water bottles etc. Any items left behind will most likely not be kept.

School finishes for the summer break on Friday at 12 noon.

Finally, I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank all the P2 parents for being such a supportive group and to thank all my P2 pupils for being such fun! I wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe summer.

Thanks again,

Miss Sara Brunt

P7 last week information and events :(

Well it is finally here – the last week of term.  I am such a proud teacher and seeing them on stage at the Gala Day was just fabulous, I am not going to lie – there were tears in my eyes!

Monday – we are rehearsing, rehearsing and rehearsing (pupils are to think about their circus costumes and bring in what they want to wear – it can be an over exaggeration of their personality – not traditional clowns etc.)

Tuesday – Buddy Breakfast – A wee chance to swap cards and gifts, swap words of wisdom and play with their P2 buddies (rehearsals too).

TUESDAY LEAVERS NIGHT IN SCHOOL (6.15-7.45pm) an event organised by parents where pupils can come and take photos, eat pizza and have fun with the class – hopefully a lovely night.  We will get the photo props out and pupils should come smart/casual and can wear their Gala Day attire if they wish (they have done in the past).  Parent Helpers welcome – see P7 facebook page.

Wednesday – Dress rehearsal (am) and LEAVERS ASSEMBLY 1.15pm,  2 adults per child max

THURSDAY – LEAVERS DAY OUT. Dominion Cinema and McDonalds.  Please wear hoodies.  Pupils do not need any money as the parent council fund this event.  Pupils can bring a small snack and juice (e.g. bottle of juice and a small bag of popcorn).  They will be having a meal and treat at McDonalds so please do not allow them to come with huge amounts of snack.

FRIDAY 🙁 Final Day – Certificate Assembly at 9am.  Leaving Assembly at 11am and Pupils break up at 12 Noon.  The parents have paid for a piper (please sent money in for Mrs Black) who will pipe out the pupils at 12 oclock.  Please meet them from outside the P7 classroom door.

I want to thank you all for your kind words and support this year.  I cannot tell you how amazing all of your children are and the amount of progress each and every one has made since August is unbelievable.  They hold a special place in my heart. Please keep in touch and remember to say Hi when you see us out and about!

Happy Summer!

Mrs Hinton xxxx

P5 Homework w/b 18.6.18

P5 Homework will consist of one last spelling practice and a ‘weight’ activity exercise:

  • Spelling Activity Cards (complete green & red is optional)
  • Weight activity exercise

As you are aware our class trip to Scottish National Mining Museum is this Wednesday 20th June 2018.  Many thanks for returning all ME2 slips. We will leave school at 9:15am and return at 2:45pm with pupils being dismissed at the normal time of 3:15pm.  Can you please ensure pupils come with a packed lunch, snack and wearing a light rain jacket and outdoor shoes as some of our tour is outside. The weather forecast for Wednesday looks like rain but hopefully we will be able to avoid this and enjoy our day.

I will send home a slip detailing this information with pupils on Tuesday afternoon,

Many thanks,

Mrs Watts

P2 Homework W/B 18.6.18

Hi all,

Here’s a selection of pictures from Health Week.

As you can see, an energetic and fun time was had!

Anyway, we are now starting our second last week of P2. This will be the final week of homework.

Spelling – finish the sixth and final list in the common words booklet.

Reading – we will finish off current books in class but I am unlikely to give out new ones. We will read other books in class.

Numeracy – Here’s a link to game we played last week which practises adding on 10 to a number.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/chopper-squad

Topic – We have finished with the sea theme and will be doing a mini ‘local study’ topic which will involve looking at Loanhead and using simple maps. It would be very helpful for children to know their address, which will also link in with personal safety chats we’ll have prior to the summer break.

Library – can all library books be returned this week please.

PE – Wednesday and Thursday

That’s all for now,

Miss S Brunt
