Primary 1 Home Learning 11/1/21

Happy new year to our Primary 1 families,

Sadly, this is not the start of the year that we had hoped for and we find ourselves back to learning from home.  For many of you, this is the first time, and for others you will have older children using Google Classroom.

We began Primary 1 using SeeSaw as our home learning platform which is what we will continue to use.  I know the majority of families are already confident using this but please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have technical difficulties and we will try our best to support you.  You can also request devices for home learning if this is proving to be difficult at home.

I will be working in school for 2 days a week and on those days I will not be able to provide feedback for the learning.  There will be activities scheduled and a timetable available for you to look at and work through.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we all get back into the swing of learning (and teaching) from home.

🏠P6 Home Learning in Lockdown Info – W/B Mon 11th January 2021

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is safe, rested and well. Thank you so much for the lovely gifts I received before Christmas.

As you are all aware, children will be home schooled until further notice. This can be incredibly stressful and difficult to manage; I am well aware of the challenges this presents to parents and pupils alike and so, aim to provide a good balance of activities which will revise recent P6 work and offer a little progression too. I hope my activities are straightforward to complete, bearing in mind many of you may have to share devices.

What Will Home Learning Look Like?

Home learning will be provided via Google Classroom or a Home Learning Pack of worksheets and activities.

Google Classroom  💻

There will be 3 – 4 tasks per day.

  • Numeracy/Maths
  • Literacy
  • Health & Well Being
  • Other ( this could be Topic, French or Art for example).

I will post tasks daily and these will be available from 08:50. I will be checking in at regular intervals to give feedback on assignments handed in.

I have prepared a Slideshow in Google Classroom with more information on it which can be viewed from 08:50 on Monday 11th January. Included in this is a rough guide as to the weekly timetable to expect.

💬I will turn the ‘Chat’ function back on in the Stream. Children can  put questions on here or send as private comments on an individual assignment.

Home Learning Pack 📝

Please let me know ASAP if you would prefer a Home Learning Pack instead of using Google Classroom. However, I am going to wait and see who would like this before I assemble any packs but the plan is that these packs will be available to collect from the School Office;  if you request one, I will notify you about when your pack is ready.

This is a very difficult time for all of us but I am here to help and support you through this Home Learning period. Easy to say but try not to worry about it; problems can quickly be turned into solutions so please do let me know straightaway if there are any issues.

If you have any queries, please contact me through my work email:

S.Brunt@mgfl.net

Kind regards, stay safe,

Miss Brunt

P4 Update – January 2021

Dear parents/carers,

We would like to wish you Happy New Year. I know this is not the start to the year we had hoped for but we are working hard this week to support key-worker families and get ready for Home Learning – Part 2 which begins on Monday 11th January 2021.
We had hoped that we would not be faced with another period of learning from home but unfortunately the virus has a sting in its tail and we need to re-focus our efforts on supporting our children and school community remotely in, hopefully, this final push before the vaccine is rolled out.
We will be using Google Classrooms as our delivery platform and packs of jotters have been organised. P4 pupils who did not take home jotter packs at the end of term, can collect theirs from the school office. The office will be open normal school hours so from the morning of Monday 11th January, people will be able to collect packs.
Mrs Roy and myself will continue to be active on Google Classroom on our normal days so Monday and Thursday – Mrs Roy and Tuesday and Wednesday – Mrs Watts plus alternating Fridays with Mrs Roy working Friday 15th January.
You can find your child’s login details glued into the inside cover of their homework jotters and we had a brief practise logging in on the last day of term but if you have any difficulties, Mrs Hinton is our expert and happy to help.
Daily learning at home will consist of:
  • 3 curricular areas – literacy, numeracy and one other
  • Daily post from teacher on group chat (Stream) within Google Classrooms outlining the days activities
  • Assignments will be posted and used to gather evidence of learning
  • Children can submit pictures of their work or work straight onto their assignment
  • Queries on assignments can be made via ‘Group Chat’ (Stream tab) which the teacher will monitor at intervals throughout the school day
  • More specific, individual queries can be made by e-mail to either class teacher
As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require any further information and we look forward to welcoming you on to Google Classrooms from Monday 11th January.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Watts – J.Watts@mgfl.net
Mrs Roy – S.Roy@mgfl.net

*P1 HOME LEARNING*

To P1 parents,

HAPPY NEW YEAR. I cannot believe we are back here, not the new year we hoped for. I miss all the children, so fingers crossed remote learning is a short term thing.

I am just sending a quick message to let you know that activities and more information will be posted on Seesaw on Monday morning. I hope to do a wee video for the class to say hello and explain a bit about what learning may look like.

I will also message parents individually with sumdog passwords etc incase these are lost from last year.

I will be in school teaching for a few days a week as well so might not be instantly available so thanks for your support in advance.

I did remote learning with my 2 last time and it can be stressful but also a real bonding time. Some days will work well and others will be a right off and that is OK. Every household is different, how you approach this needs to work for your family. If you miss some activities and cannot catch up, that’s OK!

The work will be a lot interactive but you can do it on paper and take a photo within the assignment and send it to me. We used SewSaw last term to prepare for this and we will all be learning together.

Joe Wicks is back on Monday at 9am on his youtube channel. This is something the whole school tried to do last time and can be a great start to your day, especially if everyone gets involved.

As for a timetable, it is about what works for you. I can suggest but remember, remote learning is flexible.

Each day there will be literacy, numeracy activities as well as health and some Scottish topic work.

Enjoy your weekend of snowy fun x

P7 – Home Learning Information

Home Learning Announcement

Dear Parents,

I hope you are keeping safe and you had a restful Christmas Holiday.

As we begin our second stint with Home Learning, I wanted to provide you with further details on the weekly plan and where to access resources.

I will be attaching a weekly plan for you to see an overview of the weekly activities.
This will be provided on a Sunday, before the start of the new Home Learning week. I hope this will allow parents and pupils to organise their week in advance if need be due to work commitments etc. I have attached the weekly plan below and these plans will be found in the Home Learning topic folder for each week.

All activities for this coming week will be uploaded under the topic folder, Home Learning: 11th – 15th January. Each new week will have its own folder, similar to last time.

There will be a separate folder called, Additional Home Learning Activities.
This will have further resources for pupils to access such as, Sumdog, Education City, Hour of Code and more to follow.

The next couple of weeks will have a Scottish theme in several of the HL activities.

If any of you need support to access Google Classroom through your Glow account or have any general queries then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
You can reach me on my work email: c.nelson@mgfl.net

I will be working in school this Monday, so apologies in advance if I do not respond to your emails as quickly as I like to.

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy your weekend,

C. Nelson

Home Learning for Primary 2

Dear parents/guardians,

I hope everyone has enjoyed their festive break and made the most of the holidays.

We already knew about the school using online learning for the week beginning the 11th of January. With the new announcement that looks to be getting extended to the end of the month.

We as a class will be using Google Classrooms, as I believed you did in Primary one. Each child was given their Username and Password inside the front cover of their homework jotter.(Some pupils were off so please send me an email).

I will create another post clarifying what will be going up on Google classroom, as well as the expectations of online learning, by Friday the 8th of January.

If you have any issues accessing Google Classroom or you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
You can contact me by email.
