P3 Update – Lunches, PE etc

Hi all,

I hope you all enjoyed a lovely yet somewhat unusual summer. We are feeling very much back in the swing of things here at Loanhead and have really enjoyed our first week back. It has been lovely to see all the children’s little faces and bring the school building to life again.

Just a quick post to keep you up to date with p3 life.

PE and Learning Outdoors

Our PE day this term will be a Wednesday. Can you please ensure your child comes to school in suitable clothing for outdoor physical exercise as we will not be changing into PE kit in school.

We are also trying to ensure we are doing as much learning outside as possible to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 and encouraging children to be outside at break time as often as possible. Can you send your child to school with a warm, water proof coat to ensure they are as comfortable as possible outside. Of course children won’t be outdoors on a day like today with heavy showers but with a light drizzle we are still aiming to be outside.

Milk

Milk letters were sent out today. If you wish for your child to have milk can you ensure that payment is returned to the school office in an envelop no later than Monday the 24th of August . Unfortunately any payments not in an envelop or paid after this date cannot be accepted.

Payment can also be made through ParentPay.

Lunches

Below you will find a picture of the school lunch order form we are completing with children each day. You will see they have a variety of options. As this is a free option for p1-3 your children are entitled to this. You are, of course, welcome to continue providing your child with their own lunch. However,  what we are finding in class is that as children aren’t used to the school day any more many are getting very hungry by the time the afternoon comes. A suggestion has been for children to bring a morning snack and a small afternoon snack and have a school lunch or in addition to a packed lunch provided from home.

Toys

To minimise possible infection of COVID 19 we are asking children do not bring any toys to school. This includes plastic toys. Even though they are able to be wiped down children inevitably share with others during play and as we are limiting shared use of resources to prevent potential cross infection your support with the issue of toys in school is greatly appreciated.

Homework

I have had some parents and children asking about whether homework is going to be physically sent home or if it will be sent online. I have not made a decision on this until I can communicate with all staff on what our intentions are as a school to keep it consistent, particularly across siblings. I appreciate your patience whilst we sort this out.

Contact me

If you ever need to contact me my school email address is k.ramsay@mgfl.net. Feel free to email me any questions you have, I will always try to help where I can.

This past week has definitely been a learning curve but it has been thoroughly enjoyable getting to know your children a little bit better. This class has such a great energy and they are such friendly, funny characters. I am sure we are going to have a great year together!

Have a lovely evening,

Miss Ramsay
