P5 Homework w/b 18.6.18

P5 Homework will consist of one last spelling practice and a ‘weight’ activity exercise:

  • Spelling Activity Cards (complete green & red is optional)
  • Weight activity exercise

As you are aware our class trip to Scottish National Mining Museum is this Wednesday 20th June 2018.  Many thanks for returning all ME2 slips. We will leave school at 9:15am and return at 2:45pm with pupils being dismissed at the normal time of 3:15pm.  Can you please ensure pupils come with a packed lunch, snack and wearing a light rain jacket and outdoor shoes as some of our tour is outside. The weather forecast for Wednesday looks like rain but hopefully we will be able to avoid this and enjoy our day.

I will send home a slip detailing this information with pupils on Tuesday afternoon,

Many thanks,

Mrs Watts

Another Successful Health Week!

This week has been our Health Week at Loanhead Primary, and what an amazing week it has been.  Every class has enjoyed learning about health and wellbeing as well as trying out different sports and healthy activities.  We thank Mrs Duncan for organising this week for us, without her then this week could not have happened.

Classes kicked off the week with our amazing sports day, another thanks to Mrs Duncan and the P7s for running this for the school.  It was a lovely afternoon filled with a lot of laughter and team spirit and it was great to see so many parents, carers, friends and family here to support the pupils.

The rest of the week was filled with our early morning warm ups in the playground, American Football, Football, Hockey, Cycling, Rugby, Judo, Movement to Music, Yoga, Judo, Relaxation, Healthy food making, Dance, Sleep and gaming awareness, Police talks, Internet safety, our fabulous bike breakfast (storm Hector can not stop us!) and so much more!

Here are some photos of this amazing week.

  • Maths Activity sheet on Tally Charts

P5 Homework w/b 29.01.18

Firstly I would like to congratulate P5 for the effort that has gone in to their Literacy Circles homework. We have now come to the end of our 6 week block and the general feeling from the class is that they have really enjoyed learning the LC roles and reading their choice of novel.

Our next project is a Pupil Talk which will be prepared during school and home time. The choice of topic is completely up to the individual and should be no longer than 5 minutes with questions and answers at the end. Pupils agreed upon the most appropriate dates to fit their schedules and skills will be taught over the next 2 weeks. I am very keen for this to be an enjoyable experience and should not take too much time to prepare. There will be no reading homework until after the Easter break, instead non-fiction reading will take place in class.

Spelling activities will continue weekly, with the red activity being optional.

There is a maths follow-up sheet that corresponds to learning in class but if pupils feel this is too much to fit into their week then this terms times table (8 x) can be practised instead.

We look forward to continuing with our Victorian project and having Mrs Hollins join our class until 2.3.18.

As always, thank you for your support,

Mrs Watts & Mrs Roy

P5 Homework week beginning 4.9.17

P5 Achievement Wall Homework, due for Friday 8th September

I am aware that some children have already completed this activity but for those who have not here are the instructions.

As part of our Health and Wellbeing work this session the P5 pupils are going to create an ‘Achievement Wall’ within our classroom.

The ‘Achievement Wall’ is designed to celebrate the vast and varied talents/skills of our pupils. Each pupil is required to bring in a photograph of them performing/completing their skill or talent. They should then write a paragraph explaining exactly what skill/talent they are proud of and why. These will be displayed upon our ‘Achievement Wall’.

Each child will also be given the opportunity to show us their photo and tell us about their talent or skill.

Thank you for your support with this.
