Welcome to the new term.

Good Morning Primary 2,

I hope you have all enjoyed your spring holidays and have made the most of the sunshine that we have had the past week.
I wanted to clarify the PE clothing situation that has had a few parents/guardians confused. PE is only on a THURSDAY with me.
We will have outdoor learning again this term but the dates are to still be confirmed and I will share here as well with the children when I get the dates confirmed.
I also want to let you know that we will be doing a pupil talk in class very soon. I have attached a document that fully outlines the expectations and the timeline we are looking at. The talks wont begin until the week beginning 3/5/21. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or talk to me at the end of the day.
Thank you,
Mr Peacock

📗World Book Day 2021 – Digital book token 📚

📚  As part of World Book Day, the children always love to be given their book token in school.  This year I have been given a digital book token for parents/carers to save onto their phones and use in participating stores.  The children can get one of the £1 books using this token or they can get money off the other World Book Day books.  This can be used until March 28th.

Enjoy 🙂 and remember to send in your extreme reading photos

Home Learning for Primary 2

Dear parents/guardians,

I hope everyone has enjoyed their festive break and made the most of the holidays.

We already knew about the school using online learning for the week beginning the 11th of January. With the new announcement that looks to be getting extended to the end of the month.

We as a class will be using Google Classrooms, as I believed you did in Primary one. Each child was given their Username and Password inside the front cover of their homework jotter.(Some pupils were off so please send me an email).

I will create another post clarifying what will be going up on Google classroom, as well as the expectations of online learning, by Friday the 8th of January.

If you have any issues accessing Google Classroom or you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
You can contact me by email.

🌈 P5 Info – 23.11.20

I can’t believe how quickly time is going, we are almost in December!!

Please remember that we need to keep windows open for ventilation, so children may get a little chilly. They can bring in an extra jumper/hoody but please ensure it is clearly labelled with their name.

Flu vaccinations (nasal sprays) are on Wednesday.

🔬We had science with Mrs Cumming this afternoon and learned all about the water cycle and the states of matter. The children had lots of fun trying to melt ice as quickly as they could using a range of materials.

*Mrs Cumming is gathering some materials for science, we are looking for the following: empty plastic bottles (2 litre ones), water bottle caps (the ones you push up and down) and any old CD’s/DVD’s. Thank you.*

🏃🏼‍♂️ Mrs Duncan is back this week, so P.E is on Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure children come dressed appropriately.

⭐️ ZOOM Assembly on Friday at 11:30AM.

Homework 📝

Reading 📚- Pages to be read will be written in your child’s reading record daily. Please ensure reading is completed every night with an emphasis on expression.

Spelling✏️ – The new spelling list was copied down this morning (Monday).

Maths/Numeracy 🔢 – There will be a task uploaded on Google Classroom tomorrow morning (Tuesday). I will have printed copies for those who cannot access Google Classroom.

🎅CHRISTMAS CARDS – Info and Deadline🎄

I can’t believe it is this time of year, in such strange times it is great to have some excitement.  The children have been busy creating Christmas cards for our annual fundraiser and these should be coming home on 6th Nov.

You can choose the greeting inside, or leave it blank.  It does not have to be Christmas.  We have some Happy New Year cards made or Eid cards made and I like to create Thank You cards for my children to send out after Christmas.  There are many options.

If you wish to order, you must return the order form and design with payment back to school in a polly pocket or sealed envelope.  You can pay cheque, cash or ParentPay.

If you would like a blank order form for siblings etc there will be some spare at the school office.  The cards will be collected by our design company on Thurs 12th, please can you return to school, with payment, ASAP.

This is always a fun fundraiser and the children really enjoy seeing their designs in “real life items”.

Thanks for your support.

Term One Targets Primary 2

I hope everyone enjoyed their October break and managed to make the most of the week off.

Getting back into the swing of things, I will be handing out the Term One Targets this week.

This consisted of small meetings with each child and discussed what they felt they were good at and enjoyed in school.

As well as areas we felt we can work on and set as our targets.

Some of the targets for each child, they may be able to work on them at home through games and activities.

I have sent home a sheet at the back of the letter with some ideas of 5 to 10 minute activities that you can do at home. As well as attached some activities to this post.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on g.peacock@mgfl.net
