P6 Week beginning 6.9.21

Hi all,

👟 P.E. is on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for P.E. (outside) on those days.

📝 Homework is handed out on Monday and should be handed in on Friday. This week, there will be spelling, reading and numeracy. The numeracy homework is revision of addition and subtraction chimney sums, including regrouping and exchanging.

🇨🇳 Mandarin with Miss Sun is on Wednesday afternoon.

⛳️ On Tuesday the class have a workshop to learn about a former Scottish golfing champion, Tommy Morris.

📨 Some of the children received a letter yesterday about a race on Saturday 18th September, the children were asked if they would like to take part and only those who did, received a letter. Please can this be returned on Monday.

🎷 Mr Walker, the brass teacher, spoke with the class on Thursday about the opportunity to learn a brass instrument. Parents/Carers should have received an email about this already and this is just a reminder that registration for it opens on Monday. Please note that P7 do have priority over P6, as they were unable to take part last year, so this may mean there could be limited spaces for P6 pupils.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need anything.

P3 Homework w/b 6.9.21

Hi everyone,

Another busy week in P3 but we are all loving it and putting in such great effort.  We live by the motto ”practice makes progress” and always focus on knowing that we can achieve any goal if we put in the work and you can really feel that in the ethos in our classroom.

Reminders:

  • On Thursday the 9th Mrs Caldwell will be covering the class first thing in the morning should you feel you need to prepare your child for change.
  • PE days are Tuesday and Thursday so please make sure your child comes to school prepared in suitable clothing and with a water  bottle (water only please).
  • Due to COVID guidance can we please be ensuring children do not bring toys to school. It also helps to ensure children are concentrating and listening when they should be.  If other arrangements have been made with me , for example fidgets, these can continue to come to school.
  • Can I give a gentle reminder that homework should be handed in on Friday (unless other arrangements have been made with me) so I can refresh the word lists. Otherwise I will not have a chance to do this throughout the week.

P7 News W/B Monday 6th September ’21

Hi all,

🎽 PE  – Monday and Wednesday – please come to school dressed for PE outdoors. Remember to bring a water bottle for hydration.

🏠Homework :

📝Spelling –  Please hand in completed work on Friday. Please ensure all writing is neat.

🏠 House Captain Speech – Candidates for the P7 House Captain roles will deliver their speeches to their house teams on Monday 13th September ( outdoors). However, I would like everyone to complete the House Captain home task sheet, even if a pupil has no intention of becoming a house captain.

  • No Maths homework this week!

🏌️‍♂️ Monday 6th September – We have a workshop today to learn about a former Scottish golfing champion, Tommy Morris.

💷 Enterprise – As part of ongoing financial education, P7 were given an enterprise task last week- each child was given £20 in plastic  money, a budgeting account sheet and time to make a business plan.

Children have been very industrious and extremely enthusiastic  making small craft items with selected materials they bought from the class ‘shop’. Children also got paid for doing jobs, such as working in the shop and the bank!

We open the market place (covid aware!) this week so that trading can begin in earnest. Watch this space as they say…who could be the next Apprentice?

That’s all for now,

Thank you,

Miss Brunt

p3 Homework week beginning 30.8.21

Hello all!

I hope everyone has had a fabby start back to LPS. The class have certainly hit the ground running and are really meeting my expectations for P3. They’re such a lovely bunch and so clever.

Announcement:

Usually homework will be handed out on a Monday however due to my absence on Friday that wasn’t possible this week. Apologies!

Coming home with your child today is a reading book, reading record and a homework jotter. Inside the homework jotter you will find spelling words that are allocated to each group . All the children have been sorted into their group of either Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin or Hufflepuff and they have been made aware of their group in class. I have also included minimum expectations for homework. Priority should be given to reading homework each week. Children will get spelling each week and occasionally numeracy homework if we find a certain concept really challenging in class.

Homework will go out on a Monday and be handed in on a Friday. The Friday hand in is crucial for me to refresh spelling lists for the next week.

I will also be posting homework and announcements weekly on the website for now and eventually this will move over to the new google classroom. I will write home and inform you when that move will take place.

Spelling:

In your child’s reading records there are lots of high frequency word lists. Instant recognition of these increases of the fluidity of your child’s reading dramatically so if you are ever looking for extra work at home practice of these words is a fantastic place to start.

Remember if you have any queries or concerns feel free to contact me at:

K.Ramsay@mgfl.net

I will always strive to respond in a timely manner and help whichever way I can.

Kind Regards,

Miss Ramsay
