P7 last week information and events :(

Well it is finally here – the last week of term.  I am such a proud teacher and seeing them on stage at the Gala Day was just fabulous, I am not going to lie – there were tears in my eyes!

Monday – we are rehearsing, rehearsing and rehearsing (pupils are to think about their circus costumes and bring in what they want to wear – it can be an over exaggeration of their personality – not traditional clowns etc.)

Tuesday – Buddy Breakfast – A wee chance to swap cards and gifts, swap words of wisdom and play with their P2 buddies (rehearsals too).

TUESDAY LEAVERS NIGHT IN SCHOOL (6.15-7.45pm) an event organised by parents where pupils can come and take photos, eat pizza and have fun with the class – hopefully a lovely night.  We will get the photo props out and pupils should come smart/casual and can wear their Gala Day attire if they wish (they have done in the past).  Parent Helpers welcome – see P7 facebook page.

Wednesday – Dress rehearsal (am) and LEAVERS ASSEMBLY 1.15pm,  2 adults per child max

THURSDAY – LEAVERS DAY OUT. Dominion Cinema and McDonalds.  Please wear hoodies.  Pupils do not need any money as the parent council fund this event.  Pupils can bring a small snack and juice (e.g. bottle of juice and a small bag of popcorn).  They will be having a meal and treat at McDonalds so please do not allow them to come with huge amounts of snack.

FRIDAY 🙁 Final Day – Certificate Assembly at 9am.  Leaving Assembly at 11am and Pupils break up at 12 Noon.  The parents have paid for a piper (please sent money in for Mrs Black) who will pipe out the pupils at 12 oclock.  Please meet them from outside the P7 classroom door.

I want to thank you all for your kind words and support this year.  I cannot tell you how amazing all of your children are and the amount of progress each and every one has made since August is unbelievable.  They hold a special place in my heart. Please keep in touch and remember to say Hi when you see us out and about!

Happy Summer!

Primary 3 Homework – 19th to 25th June

Primary 3 Homework – 19th to 25th June

This week we are working hard getting ready for our assembly on Friday. If you are free to come along, the parents’ showing is at 11:45am.

As we approach the end of term, please can I ask everyone to look at home for reading books or library books? There will be 50 bonus house points for each book returned.

Because of all the work for assembly I will only set reading homework for this week. The pages to read for Thursday and next Monday will be marked on grids as usual.

Best wishes,

Mr Buchan

P5 Homework w/b 18.6.18

P5 Homework will consist of one last spelling practice and a ‘weight’ activity exercise:

  • Spelling Activity Cards (complete green & red is optional)
  • Weight activity exercise

As you are aware our class trip to Scottish National Mining Museum is this Wednesday 20th June 2018.  Many thanks for returning all ME2 slips. We will leave school at 9:15am and return at 2:45pm with pupils being dismissed at the normal time of 3:15pm.  Can you please ensure pupils come with a packed lunch, snack and wearing a light rain jacket and outdoor shoes as some of our tour is outside. The weather forecast for Wednesday looks like rain but hopefully we will be able to avoid this and enjoy our day.

I will send home a slip detailing this information with pupils on Tuesday afternoon,

Many thanks,

Mrs Watts

P2 Homework W/B 18.6.18

Hi all,

Here’s a selection of pictures from Health Week.

As you can see, an energetic and fun time was had!

Anyway, we are now starting our second last week of P2. This will be the final week of homework.

Spelling – finish the sixth and final list in the common words booklet.

Reading – we will finish off current books in class but I am unlikely to give out new ones. We will read other books in class.

Numeracy – Here’s a link to game we played last week which practises adding on 10 to a number.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/chopper-squad

Topic – We have finished with the sea theme and will be doing a mini ‘local study’ topic which will involve looking at Loanhead and using simple maps. It would be very helpful for children to know their address, which will also link in with personal safety chats we’ll have prior to the summer break.

Library – can all library books be returned this week please.

PE – Wednesday and Thursday

That’s all for now,

Miss S Brunt

Another Successful Health Week!

This week has been our Health Week at Loanhead Primary, and what an amazing week it has been.  Every class has enjoyed learning about health and wellbeing as well as trying out different sports and healthy activities.  We thank Mrs Duncan for organising this week for us, without her then this week could not have happened.

Classes kicked off the week with our amazing sports day, another thanks to Mrs Duncan and the P7s for running this for the school.  It was a lovely afternoon filled with a lot of laughter and team spirit and it was great to see so many parents, carers, friends and family here to support the pupils.

The rest of the week was filled with our early morning warm ups in the playground, American Football, Football, Hockey, Cycling, Rugby, Judo, Movement to Music, Yoga, Judo, Relaxation, Healthy food making, Dance, Sleep and gaming awareness, Police talks, Internet safety, our fabulous bike breakfast (storm Hector can not stop us!) and so much more!

Here are some photos of this amazing week.

Primary 3 Homework – 12th to 18th June

Primary 3 Homework – 12th to 18th June

Health Week is in full swing now, with the children getting to have a go at judo, rugby, hockey, dancing and basketball.

We are also building up to our second P3 assembly of the year, which will take place on Friday 22nd June. If you are free on the day then please do come along and watch at 11:45am.

I have set a little less homework this week because I expect everyone will be tired out by all the extra exercise!

Best wishes,

Mr Buchan

Numeracy

This week we are looking at division.

To revise the basic concept, see if you can spot things at home that divide into equal groups / shares.

For example, if there are twelve apples a bag then how many would three of us each get?

I have also set a SumDog challenge on division / multiplication for those who are enjoying that sort of practice.

Reading

Reading grids will come home as usual, along with unfinished quizzes on Thursday.
