P5 Info – 14.9.20✨

Hi all,

🔬 We won’t be having science next Monday with Mrs Cumming but we will still be doing science with me in the afternoon, so there aren’t any timetable changes.

🏃🏼‍♂️Our P.E block  is on Wednesday afternoons, please ensure your child is dressed for P.E outside and brings a water bottle with water only. Thank you.

🧠 We will be having 10 minute brain breaks in the afternoons as they are longer than usual (2.5 hours). This is just an active break between our lessons in the afternoon to allow the children to move and feel ready for the rest of the afternoon. This could vary from a little jog outside, a GoNoodle video or some Yoga! Children can bring an extra snack in for this time as they may get hungry by this time, or they can leave something behind from their packed lunch.

🌟 We have introduced the ‘Zones of Regulation’ in our classroom and this is a great way to help myself and the class discuss our emotions and coping strategies. There are four zones, which you can find below, and there is no negative zone. For example, if you feel like you are in the red zone then this is not a bad thing as we can all feel multiple emotions throughout the day. The most important thing is we begin to think of strategies to help us self- regulate and bring ourselves closer to the green zone.

Homework 📝 (Set on Monday and to be returned on Friday)

Reading📚 – Pages to be read will be written into your child’s green reading record daily. Please sign beside the date to evidence it has been completed. Thank you!

Spelling✏️- A new list will be copied down on Monday morning.

Maths/Numeracy 🔢 – We have been learning how to read and write 6 digit numbers this week, so the worksheet on Google Classroom is a revision of this. If you have any issues with logging into Google Classroom, then please email me so I can fix this. I will hand out paper copies of the homework to those who cannot access GC.

School Holidays – Friday 18th September and Monday 21st September.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Lauren Waller
